Aban didn't like the sound of what was going on, but couldn't bring himself to say anything. And he wasn't about to slide off of Bartre, he didn't want to land in the freezing snow. He might be used to freezing conditions, but that didn't mean he liked them too much. He scrunched up a little, hoping to give himself some more warmth by being closer to Bartre's fur and being curled into himself.

Tarik shook her head, frustrated at their sudden conclusions. "No! We are aloud to be there, but we are not going too close. If I was found..." she cleared her throat, and looked ahead. "You will be safe. Just listen to me."

"If you were found what, Tarik?" Alan asked. There was certainly a realm of suspicion surrounding the woman. "What are you hiding?"

Mark shivered, hunching down close to Bartre, hoping to soak up heat from the big animal and Alan, as well as conserve his own. Feeling a bit better after Tarik's comment, he listened to what her response would be to the man's question.

Aban listened to the conversation between the two adults. Honestly, he wasn't all that interested in what they were saying, he just wanted something to take his mind off the cold that was sweeping all around him. He let out a small, quiet huff of air and watched his breath appear then disappear. He shivered again, wanting to be out of this cold now.

Growling, she stopped Bartre sharply, causing a shift on the creature. "I am not hiding anything! I told you, if I was found, I will be killed like my parents!" She gritted her teeth together; these outsiders were so nosy! She turned Bartre around, and he began to trot back towards Calida. "Never mind. If you want to see the castle, go alone. You do not need me anymore, so I will take you back to town and leave you."

Alan gulped. He hadn't meant to sit her up. "My.. My apologizes, Tarik. That was inconsiderate of me." He bowed his head sadly.

Mark groaned in disappointment. He had really wanted to see that castle! This is why he didn't really like adults; they were always arguing about something or other, or being too nosy. They didn't know how to just get along with people anymore! "Thanks a lot, Mr. Wake," Mark mumbled under his breath.

Aban had flinched a little when Tarik started to yell but immediately relaxed. He sighed as they were turned back around and heading the way they came. He was glad they were going into warmer weather again, but now upset because he could have possibly seen something amazing. And now, because of the arguing, he watched the two adults in the front with slightly wary eyes, now slightly afraid something bad may happen between the two.

Sighing, Tarik stopped the beast once more. She slide off, landing calf-deep in the snow. She looked into Bartre's eyes, patting his snout. "[Take them to the castle. But not too close, okay? You know what to do.]"
The creature nodded, and turned around, rushing towards the castle, leaving Tarik behind.

Alan looked back at the woman, giving her a wave. He patted the beast underneath him, then paused. Great. Now he was fully responsible for the two teenagers behind him. "Alright you two... Just stay on Bartre when we get to the castle, alright? Just wait until we're sure it's safe, at least..."

Mark smiled a bit and waved at Tarik. He kind of wished Alan was the one who had stayed behind. The man was too cautious and stiff, and acted too much like a parent. Giving a huff, he replied with a flippant, "Sure, sure." He turned to look behind him at Aban. "This is gonna be awesome!"

Aban watched as Tarik got farther away from them and gave a soft sigh. He ignored Alan's comment, one thing he didn't want right now was a father figure...had a father already and it did him no good. He looked at Mark. "Yeah, it is." he gave a small smile at the boy.

Bartre huffed and puffed as he made his way through the thick snow. He knew where to go, but not to get too close. Tarik was always so tense around that place, but, being an animal, he never understood why. Hearing the people on his back doing their mindless jabber, he kind of wished he could understand human. He mostly understood Tarik, but that's simply because they had worked together for so long. Soon, he could see the familiar outline of the castle, and knew that they would be close soon.

Alan sighed. He could sense the anger in Mark's voice. It wasn't his OWN fault that he was a stiff. It came from being thirty-three, and childless...
