Mark whipped his head around and suddenly pointed ahead as the outline of the castle came into view. "Oh, oh, I see it! There it is! This is awesome!"

Aban looked ahead and amazement appeared on his face. A smile slowly appeared and he felt his heartbeat pick up as they neared the castle. He felt like a child again, back to when he was five and before the abusing started.

The castle, as they approached it, was obviously huge. The towers were tall, with silver flags standing atop them. The entire castle was white, so as to blend in with the surrounding area. The castle was lifted high off the ground on ice-looking stilts, so that if the snow were to get too high, people could still gain entrance or exit. The entire building was extravagant, laced in ice cut to look like silver jewels.

Alan smiled. This would be a WONDERFUL backdrop for a book. "And here we are. How close are we allowed to get, Bartre?" He wasn't sure the creature would understand, but it was worth a shot.

Mark was practically buzzing with excitement. "That is so cool! It's like an ice castle! You know, like from that one book about those kids that go into a magic land and there's an ice castle." But then his brain reminded him that the one who lived in the ice castle was evil. "Oh, you don't think an evil queen lives in there, do you?"

Aban shrugged. "Who knows. Guess we'll find out." He himself, didn't really like the vibe the looks of the castle had, but he ignored them. At the moment, he wanted to get out of this snow. But he didn't say anything and dealt with the cold like he had done so many times before. He watched the castle get closer into view as they continued to go on.

Bartre, despite they're excitement, stopped. He didn't go any farther than what Tarik had ever taken him, but should one of the humans kick his side, he'd continue on out of habit.

Alan looked at the castle. "I believe an evil Queen DOES live there, which means that we should stay away. As in, stay here, safe and sound, on Bartre." He gave Mark a pointed look.

Mark groaned, but knew that Alan was right. For once. "I know, I know, but I wanted to go see the castle up close!" He sighed, swinging his feet, disappointed. He accidently kicked Bartre in the process. "Oops, sorry about that Bartre," he apologized, giving him a comforting pat on the back.

Aban gave a small, quiet groan. He was hoping to get somewhere warm, but now it looks like he would have to wait a while longer for that warmth. He looked down at Mark's feet when he started kicking them. He gave a soft sigh when he accidentally kicked Bartre.

With a yelp, Bartre dashed towards the castle. He had never been kicked hard, and wanted to escape the pain. When Tarik rode him, she used simple nudges to get him going. But now, simple animal instinct kicked in, and he made his way far too close to the castle.
Up on one of the castle walls, a guard looked down to see a beast running towards the castle doors. He called out to more guards, closer to the doors than he, to watch out for the beast. Hastily, the guards aimed their bows, should the beast not stop when they tried to shoo it.

Alan saw the archers readying and cursed silently. "Great. Now they think we're trouble!" He wasn't yelling, just frustrated.
He yelled up to the archers, attempting to appeal to their better nature. "We are new here!"

Mark's eyes widened as Bartre started running. He hadn't even kicked him that hard, had he? Either way, it wasn't really important at the moment. Standing up with careful balance, using Alan's shoulder as support whether the man wanted him to or not, Mark carefully crossed over him so he was sitting nearer to Bartre's head. Then he began talking soothing words into the creature's ear, nonsense words really, seeing as Bartre probably couldn't understand him. He pet his head and side as well, comfortingly, trying to get him to calm down and stop. It was the same method he had used on the bull on his grandfather's farm, years ago, when he had accidently gotten too close to his herd of cows. As well as the year before that when he had been on a horse and it had spooked. He just prayed to the Harvest Goddess that it would work again.

Aban held onto Bartre as he suddenly took off. His eyes widened slightly as Mark moved closer to Bartre's head. There were also the archers, aiming at them. He shrunk closer to Bartre's back and closed his eyes. He only hoped all of this would end sooner rather than later.
