"Delicious!" Haruhi finished off her first fruit, then bit into the second and handed Adachi the last one. "Oh, I also spotted a town of sorts in the distance. We were on the right track, at least."

Adachi smiled. "Well, that's promising at least! Maybe we can even get there before nightfall!" He certainly hoped so. Nightfall was when...
Shadow suddenly jumped forth, and began walking off in the wrong direction without a word.

Haruhi stared after him, blankly, rubbing the back of her head confused. "Um...hey, Adachi? Where are you going? Town's the other way, you know. .......Adachi?" She ran after him, grabbing onto his sleeve as she caught up. "Adachi....?"

Shadow kept walking, no matter how much Haruhi or Adachi told him he was going the wrong way. If Haruhi continued to hold onto him, his steadily methodical walking would simply drag him along with him. To Haruhi, as well, it seemed Adachi's entire demeanor had changed. He'd gone from a peaceful, happy face to a very angry, very sullen look.

Haruhi let go of Adachi's arm, running ahead in front of him, to walk backwards as she stared at him, hands on her hips. "What's with the 180 attitude change Adachi? And why are you insisting we go away from possible civilization?"

Shadow rolled his eyes. "Oh, yes. Because an unarmed detective and a HIGH SCHOOL student are going to be SO MUCH help to each other if that village doesn't except newcomers." He pushed past him, ignoring the other question entirely. His gut told him that going this way would simply serve to annoy Haruhi further.

Haruhi sighed at Adachi's answer. She supposed he was sort of right. "It's getting dark though. We'll have to find or build shelter if we're not going to the village. It's been a while since I've camped outside, but I think I remember how to build a shelter." There really wasn't much that could affect Haruhi, as she seemed completely undaunted by the detective's choice.

Shadow paused, and looked up at the darkening sky. Then he looked around. "Yes, build a shelter out of leaves and twigs. When it pours tonight, we'll soak. We should walk further. Try to find rocks. An overhang. Something."

"I didn't say we had to make it out of leaves." Haruhi looked up at the darkening sky, which wasn't caused completely by the approaching night. "You think it'll rain? Well, as long as it's only rain, right?" She chuckled weakly, still staring up at the sky as they walked.

Shadow shrugged. "We're on a tropical island. If it SNOWS, I'll fucking kiss you." He kept walking, not even glancing up at the sky. He kept his eyes forward, scanning for an outcropping.

Haruhi chuckled weakly again. At least he hadn't guessed at what she was referring to. And, as long as it didn't thunder tonight, then Adachi would never have to know she was scared of it. She hated people knowing about the one thing she was afraid of. Following after Adachi, she began to help him look for some kind of rock shelter.

Shadow let Adachi have control as soon as he'd found them a suitable place to sleep for the night. If there was one thing his friend did, it was take care of the two of them.
"There!" Adachi pointed goofily, smiling again. "That should work, right?"

Haruhi stared at Adachi, before shaking her head and walking into the rock shelter. "You really are a very strange person, Adachi." Honestly, had she not gotten enough bipolar attitude from her father? Now, as soon as she had gotten away, she had to go and find another person like that. She looked up at the roof of the place, and satisfied that she could see no specks of light through it, meaning there were no holes, she nodded her head. "Yeah, this should work for the night."

Adachi nodded at the rock cropping and crawled inside. He smiled. "Yeah, sorry about that. I just... Um... Have a few... Friends that come to visit sometimes. No big deal."

"Friends?" Haruhi stared at him with that same blank stare, which simply meant that she was assessing him. "Multiple personality disorder? That would explain what happened to you earlier."
