Adachi nodded. "Yeah, I guess." He smiled. "Not much about me. I'm a detective's assistant. Kind of a failure though. I tend to talk too much." He chuckled nervously. "Whenever the local kids are looking for information about the cases, for some reason I'm the one to spill..."

Haruhi chuckled a bit; he certainly seemed like the type to do that. "You know, it really makes the lawyers' jobs a lot harder when they have to deal with detectives that have leaked information like that. Slip ups like that can throw the whole case out the window, and then there's nothing left to use to prove the defendant guilty or innocent."

Adachi blinked. Ah. So she was studying to be a lawyer. He could feel Shadow rising, and let him. "And it's pesky lawyers that ruin our jobs and make us nervous as HELL and more likely to leak said information." He growled suddenly.

Haruhi tilted her head and stared up at Adachi with her wide blank eyes. "I fail to see how lawyers just getting the information the detectives are supposed to provide them with would make them nervous. It's their job after all. Unless they have something to hide, of course." She smiled at him again. "Ah, yes, I guess I should say some things about myself as well. You can probably tell by the uniform, but I was on my way to study abroad at an academy that would look good on my resume to becoming a lawyer."

Shadow nodded with Adachi's face. "I could tell." Lawyers, even future ones, were so easily detected. They were snotty, and always annoyed him. "So, an academy huh? Fancy school, right?"

"Yeah. Expensive too," Haruhi added with a sigh. "I got in on scholarship, so if we ever get off this island, there's no way I'll be able to afford a new uniform. Not on dad's salary. I'll have to walk around in regular baggy clothes or something."

Adachi felt himself returning. Good. Shadow was bored right now. It be better, and easier, for him to make friends with Haruhi first. "I'm sorry. Though, my own salary's not much better. Good thing I really like cabbage!" He chuckled weakly.

Haruhi chuckled and smiled. "Yes, exactly! Cabbage is so inexpensive and practical. There are so many dishes you can make with cabbage as the main part of the meal." She sighed. "But sadly dad complains that we eat too much of it. I, personally, have grown fond of it."

Adachi broke into a wide smile. "Another person who likes cabbage! That's so cool! And yes, there are a lost of dishes that you can make with cabbage! I've found that many of them make for great dinners, at least when I'm alone."

Haruhi smiled. "Who knew we'd agree over something like cabbages, huh?" Suddenly, her stomach growled and she frowned, placing a hand over it. "All this talk of cabbages is making me hungry."

Adachi's stomach growled in reply, and he chuckled nervously. "Me too, apparently." He looked around at the trees. "Do you think there's some... Um... Fruit, or something we could get to? I mean, I don't think we'll find, like, wild cabbage or something but..."

Haruhi snorted, trying to hold back her laughter. "W-Wild c-cabbages? No, I don't think we'll find any of those." She wiped at her eyes, where the combined efforts of her contacts and holding back her laughter (unsuccessfully) had caused her to tear up a little. "Anyway, I'm sure we could find some fruit in these trees. Just give me a second." She took off her uniform jacket and tie, handing them to Adachi. "Hold onto those for me, will ya? I'll be right back." Then she climbed up a nearby tree and disappeared into the large leaves.

Adachi blinked. Wow. This boy was a good climber! He stood simply, watching the trees. Then his attention turned the underbrush. What if... What if there were creatures on this island? Like, not friendly creatures? He shifted uncomfortably. Okay, so he WAS the adult here. But... Still. He had issues with being alone. That's what had created Shadow in the first place.

Haruhi found some fruit, at least, she thought it was fruit. Taking a few of them in her arms, she slid back down to the ground again, landing gracefully on her feet. She held one out for Adachi to inspect. "Well, I found these. Not really sure what they are honestly, but they look like fruit...." She took another one in her other hand and bit into, not at all concerned for her safety. She was hungry!

Adachi breathed a sigh of relief when the boy reappeared. He looked at the fruit for a moment before shrugging and taking a bite. "Mmmm! These taste good!" He grinned around amouthful of the strange fruit.
