~Character Info~
Name: Alan Wake
Series: ....Alan Wake (He's... Uh... The main character.)
Gender: Male.
Age and year/Age and job: 33; He's a writer, so he would prefer to teach the younger kids about English. It's very necessary.
Appearance: Alan has dark hair cut neatly, but not TOO neatly as to quit him of that sexy, thirty-year-and-some-old writer look. He has brown eyes, and doesn't wear glasses unless he is reading. He generally wears a hooded sweatshirt with a threadbare coat over top, and baggy jeans. He is never without a flashlight, because of his fears, and a trusty pistol (of the revolver variety, not automatic)

Personality: As a child, Alan had a fear of darkness. He was afraid of monsters in the dark, and would fight sleep to the bitter end out of fear. His mother gave him an old, used, broken-off lightswitch dubbed The Clicker. Every time he would flip the switch on it, a magical light would turn on and the monsters would vanish. He never truly got over this fear, still carrying the lightswitch around to this very day.
As an adult, Alan Wake is a tired writer in search of a vacation, a place where he could forget everything. While he was once much happier in his life, his rise to fame coupled with a developing writer's block has made him rather short tempered and easily angered. At times he can still be caring and sympathetic, but this is rare as he is becomes more frustrated with his life and work. Sadly, continuous pursuit of fans and paparazzi have made him somewhat cynical to people, and many say that Alan's history of substance abuse combined with his insomnia makes him especially prone to anger. He is, however, very strong-willed and brave, although this at times blurs the lines between courage and stubbornness. The only thing that might come between Alan and his bravery is his resounding fear of the dark, and his insomnia, which is a mental problem on its own.
Alan also practices at a shooting range, and has a good knowledge of hunting rifles, shotguns, and pistols, or at least how to shoot them. It should also be noted that he is a quick-thinker, using his knowledge to get past environmental and mental puzzles.
Canon history: (Well, I was just gonna Copy-paste from the wikia.... But.... It's really long. So I'll shorten it and, if you want more, you can go here: alanwake.wikia.com/wiki/Alan)
Alan Wake was a writer, a very famous one. At the beginning of the game he and his wife, Lucy, are on a ferry to Bright Falls, where Alan is expecting a relaxing vacation. After a few runins with Alan's least favorite thing, darkness, his wife, Lucy, is thrown off the balcony of the house they are staying in. Alan sees her sinking into the water below and jumps in after her-only to wake up in the middle of a car crash. Through the rest of the level after this he begins finding pages of a manuscript, written by himself, that tells what's going to happen to him before it happens. Basically really creepy, screw-with-you stuff. This happens for a while, until both Alan and the player discover that there was a week gap between diving into the water and crashing the car. Throughtout the game Alan is attacked by a force called "The Dark Presence". It is dicovered that Lucy most likely drowned, and the Dark Presence used Alan to write a story where it became stronger. This story is what Alan is living right now. If he does not stop the darkness, it will spread across the world bringing eternal nightmares to the world. The game ends in a cliffhanger, where it is supposed that Alan beat the darkness, but various DLCs have revealed that the darkness isn't truly gone.

AU history: Alan's younger life before becoming an author was uneventful. His father left when he was four, and so his mother raised him. At some point (He can’t QUITE remember when), he became interested in writing, and obsessed with such authors as Stephen King and James Patterson. When he was published, he quickly rose in popularity with his series focused on “Alex Casey”, a detective.
Alan came by ship. He's a New York native, and a famous writer. He has thick insomnia, which is supplemented with medication. However, his history has shown that he tends to take a bit more of the normal dose. Not that it helps. Alan very rarely gets sleep, and this has become manifest in the shapes he will sometimes see, playing on the edges of his vision. Due to his fears, these things don’t come to him very often during the day. The mostly appear at night, or in places of great darkness. He is still generally sentient during the day, however, more than enough to interact with people on a normal level. Get him alone at night, however…. And you may not want to be standing between the man and his pistol, or him and a patch of light.
Alan’s only hope is to either someday overcome his fear of the dark, or to at least get rid of the insomnia that creates the evil vision he sees.

Alan stepped onto the boat, smiling into the distance. Anyone that saw him would say that he seemed the picture of health, and the picture of an excited vacationist about to embark on a lovely cruise. But he was not even close to that type of person, if one looked deeper. Even if someone merely looked into his deep pockets. In one was a bottle full of Ambien, his insomnia pills. Even though he’d barely gotten the prescription refilled a week ago, the bottle was reaching half empty quickly. In the other pocket was a broken lightswitch, which he turned on and off as he walked further onto the ship. It was like a tick: On-off-on-off-on-off-on-off-on-off…. It was a mantra in his head, a prayer that his mind would keep the darkness away, as long as there was light to be had.
A cloud crossed the sun, throwing shadows over the bow of the boat and over his vision. A man-sized, shadow-like creature loomed to his left, but it was gone as soon as the sun came back. With a hand clutching his heart in his chest he moved closer to the lighted hallway of the boat, vowing to hide in his room with all the lights on if the sun and the clouds kept being unreliable.
